Quick one for any domain-heads reading – GoDaddy are taking orders for .nl domains:
$14.99 a year, or cheaper if you use a GoDaddy promo code (hint: buying one to three .nl domains, use EMMA7, any order over $50 use EMMA8 instead, you’ll save more money) . Expect some URL shortening services to pop up with short names. I tried to get fu.nl and flan.nl but they were already taken, unsurprisingly.
The domain registration rules seem to be pretty straightforward, though there seems to be a requirement to provide an address in The Netherlands, which might put a spanner in the works for me. I’ll investigate and let you know.
The other cool thing in the screengrab above is the introduction of the long-overdue Express Buy functionality, which makes the domain purchasing process far quicker than before. More on that later, I’m off to go buy a .nl or two, or at least try…I can be a pretend Dutchie to get a good domain hack, right?
Update: two things to confirm – there doesn’t appear to be a requirement to be a resident Dutchie to get a .nl domain at GoDaddy, and coupon code EMMA7 knocks 10% off the $14.99 price, bringing it down to $13.49 a year. Yay!
Oh, and hormo.nl was availabe, I was too scared to buy it.
